Life moves fast. Work, responsibilities, goals there’s always something demanding time and energy. And for the longest time, I was the type to just push through, always thinking about the next move, the next opportunity, the next way to level up. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that if I don’t slow down and actually take care of myself, everything else suffers.

For me, selfcare isn’t just about doing nothing it’s about making space for the things that keep me grounded. That could be a deep conversation that makes me reflect, a long drive with no real destination, hitting the gym to clear my mind, or even just taking a step back to breathe when life feels overwhelming. I’ve realized that when I don’t take those moments, I burn out, and I’m no good to anyone not to myself, not to my goals, and definitely not to my wife.

And that’s the thing taking care of myself isn’t just about me anymore. It’s about us. Being married has taught me that self care now includes making sure my wife feels supported, heard, and prioritized. It’s making the effort to show up for her, even in the small ways like trying to wake up earlier because she wants to spend time together before a busy day, actually being present instead of just being on my phone, making sure we’re aligned spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. It’s realizing that love isn’t just about the big moments it’s in the everyday choices.

It also means being intentional about the way I move. Being smart with money, planning for the future, making time for prayer, and staying focused on things that actually matter. Everything I do now doesn’t just affect me, it affects us. And that’s a responsibility I take seriously.

At the end of the day, I take care of myself by becoming the best version of me not just for myself, but for her too. Because when we’re good, when we’re in sync, when we’re taking care of each other, everything else just feels right.
